Borrowed Eyes, Native Hands
We come from an island that was once watched, named, and designed by others.
In faded images and misplaced patterns,
this place became a face that could be copied—
simplified into motifs, turned into products, woven into uniforms, and absorbed into the everyday.
This season, we focus on how “elsewhere” was constructed and filtered through visual culture.
Using our own bodies as measure, and native hands as tools,
we dismantle, distort, and reconstruct those imposed forms.
Rather than following the seams of history,
we rearrange and reinterpret what was once blurred, entangled, or forgotten.
From the texture of fabric to the reshaping of silhouettes,
we let new forms grow—forms that belong to us.
This is not nostalgia.
It is a process of reclaiming and reworking images and memory.
What we wear is a reinterpretation of history,
one that begins with the self and faces the past head-on.
